For Anxiety, Panic Attacks & Psychosomatic Symptoms.
Anxiety, panic attacks and psychosomatic symptoms are all successfully treated by Alice at the Maldon Hypnotherapy Clinic Essex with Hypnotherapy, CLB and EMDR.
Everyone has felt anxious at some point in their lives, often for good reason. Anxiety is a normal survival reaction designed to keep us switched on to potential dangers so we can keep ourselves safe. Anxiety symptoms however can very unfortunately and dramatically strike at inappropriate times and may persist long after any potentially dangerous situation is over.
Anxiety is a timeless, formless, overwhelming fear of the unknown or feeling that something bad that will happen. The onset of anxiety can occur at any time and isn't necessarily triggered by a specific situation (such as with a fear of flying, heights, fear of going out - social anxiety etc.). Most sufferers will have no true idea why they feel so out of control and will often be quite embarrassed and helpless to rationalise what it is that they feel so anxious about and therefore are quite frustrated that they can't seem to do anything about it no matter how hard they try. Anxiety expresses itself in many ways; generalised anxiety; panic attacks or psychosomatic symptoms such as IBS, psoriasis, migraines, nausea etc. General anxiety in some ways share the symptoms of a panic attack but is more of a "free floating anxiety" - a more general feeling of nervousness, tremors, tension, day or night sweats, light headedness, palpitations, dizziness and often digestive upset. There are often accompanying disproportionate fears and worries about illness or the death of oneself of those around them. After experiencing prolonged, inappropriate anxiety symptoms another form of anxiety ironically often kicks in, anticipatory anxiety, where there is a dread and even avoidance through behaviour change of the next potential "anxiety attack". For example, an agoraphobic who's afraid to go out will often (despite great life limiting inconvenience to themselves, their partner or dependents) quite simply avoid the horrid pending or full blow panic attack by as good as never going outside their own home.
Panic Attacks/anxiety attacks.
A panic attack (aka episodic paroxymal anxiety) has a sudden onset, often out of the blue and is the basic primeval fight or flight response which has been triggered unconsciously (which is why you may be in a "normal" situation when one starts). Panic attacks are often recurrent and may not be restricted to any particular situation or set of circumstances making them unnervingly unpredictable and unavoidable. Some suffers however do find that they are triggered off by one or more of a wide range of situations or phobic triggers and can come on very suddenly and uncontrollably, often lasting an exhausting and frightening 15 minutes. The intense symptoms appear quite similar to that of a heart attack so people often feel they are close to death.
Symptoms of a typical panic attack may be one or more of the following:
- Clammy hands
- Intense sweating, cold sweat, shaking or trembling
- Chest pain or tightness
- Thoughts of dying
- Sudden intense anxiety or fear of danger
- Heart pounding, beating faster, palpitations
- Shortness of breath or shallow breathing
- Nausea, faintness or dizziness
- Fear of losing control
- Dry mouth, problems swallowing
- Mind going 'blank'
- Sense of impending doom or disaster
- Ringing ears
- Choking sensation
- Frozen to the spot feeling
- Weakness, fatigue
- Needing to defecate
The internal anxiety causing such dramatic symptoms all stems from a deep rooted internal conflict, or bottled up emotions that are not in the conscious domain to be dealt with but rather have been locked down into the huge database that is our unconscious or subconscious. Anxiety will bubble out whenever it's shaken, which is often by being in a situation where one is unconsciously feeling out of control. This maybe an obvious threat such as flying in a tin can over the ocean, standing on a cliff edge, or barking, jumping dogs, going to the dentist, being stuck in crowds etc. Or it maybe far more subtle and seemingly obscure a trigger, such as having to eat in front of others, use a public loo, driving in the dark and so on.
When panic attacks or anxiety affects your everyday life it's time to get to the root of the problem, release the bottled up emotions and be freed from the uncontrollable outbursts of "irrational" emotion. Management and reversal of symptoms through CLB, rewiring the traumatic short circuits of PTSD through EMDR and/or resolving the source of the problem through Pure Hypnoanalysis can free you from the binding symptoms once and for all.
Psychosomatic Symptoms.
Another way of anxiety expressing itself is through physical symptoms. There are hundreds of psychosomatic symptoms that can be caused by anxiety (rather than having a medical organic cause). Many will believe that the symptoms are just 'in the head' of the sufferer and therefore are not real, however this is not true, as any symptom that a person is suffering is very real, it just means there is no medical explanation as to why they are experiencing it. It is true that the mind controls the body though so the very real symptoms stem from what's going on in someone's head. This means that any anxiety that is bottled up inside a person will find an outlet in the physical body (as in psychosomatic symptoms) or as an emotional or psychological problem.
"Hi Alice thanks so much for all your help, between our sessions and the "revive" [Thrive] book you suggested I feel much better and have a much better perspective on things! I'm so glad I came to see you as it helped to resolve things I thought I may have been stuck with! It also gave me the knowledge to deal with other problems that tend to come along!" Hypnoanalysis resolves anxiety, panic attacks, psychosomatic disorders and other anxiety symptoms:
Many clients who come to solve their problems have often sought for years to manage their anxiety and related symptoms via other routes, including anti-depressants, counseling, other talking therapies, “self medication” through, drink, drugs etc. But their problems still persist and at least limit life if not destroy aspects of it.
Luckily Hypnoanalysis offers an effective, refreshing and altogether very different approach by actually getting to the genuine source of the problem rather than just damping down symptoms.
Just imagine not carrying all that baggage around with you for the rest of your life- no matter how much you think you've gotten "used to it" or "deserve it" or "it's just the way I'm made"! Just think of how very very different life would be if you didn't have to go through it with the handbrake on all the time?
In the entirely understanding and non-judgemental atmosphere of Alice's highly professional consulting rooms you will work together with her using Pure Hypnoanalysis to allow those bottled up emotions which reside deep within your unconscious mind to naturally surface and be cathartically released - leaving you feeling lighter, better, free from all those symptoms.
Support, understanding and empathy are all integral when working with Alice and you'll soon see it is not like that of other talking therapies or counseling. Instead of just raking over the past and trying to intellectually come to terms with issues, Hypnosis and Free Association allow clean excision of the unconscious reasons for your depression and then those pent up emotions finally resolve and are truly released. In doing so any directly and often many indirectly related symptoms disappear for good and you can just simply get on with happily living that life you've always wanted and be the person you've always wanted to be. No brainwashing involved, no more management of stresses just to get by - quite simply you will have the choices as the same person you were but crucially without all the unconscious baggage holding you back in life.
The DREAM Technique: Symptoms of anxiety can also be managed effectively with Changing Limiting Beliefs work. Suggestion Therapy sessions and self hypnosis play a fundamental part in the powerful DREAM Technique that Alice teaches. Working on changing limiting belief systems helps YOU to take control of your own depression and effectively manage and overcome it.
